Air Tightness Testing

Building Enclosure Air Tightness Testing (Blower Door Testing) is a new and emerging trend in domestic, commercial, and Industrial buildings throughout Australia. The benefits have been well established in parts of Europe and the Americas for many years and is now being recognised in Australia.
Vining Air has been a NEBB HVAC Commissioning Company for many years and have recently achieved ATTMA (UK standard) and NEBB (Building Enclosure Testing) certification for air tightness testing.

Water System Commissioning

With continuing demand for increased energy efficiency, the design of water systems whether it be Chilled, Heating, Condenser or Process Water has evolved over recent years and will continue to do so.

Intricacies including primary/secondary systems, variable flow, variable pressure and diversified flow have made the commissioning process very complex. With extensive experience in this area Vining Air is highly qualified to assist clients on new or existing projects.

Fire/Smoke Control/Stair Pressurisation

Smoke Management and Stair Pressurisation systems form part of a life safety & compliance process required in multi-compartment buildings. These complex systems are required to be tested on an annual basis to Australian Standard AS/NZS 1668.

Vining Air are skilled in testing these systems to ensure they are fully compliant.

Audit/Investigative Works

Typically, services such as HVAC cooling, heating, and air distribution fan systems as well as light & power and lifts are big ticket energy consumers.

If good building tuning results are to be achieved then strong BMS monitoring, energy metering and data gathering is essential.

Often the building's energy usage is tracked and compared against the energy models which quickly establish problem areas that require further focus.

Green Star & LEED

With continuing demand for increased energy efficiency, the role of building services has evolved over recent years and will continue to do so.

The Commissioning Agent's role is to advise, monitor and verify the commissioning & sign off process of all nominated building services so they operate to their full potential and as designed.

The process includes developing comprehensive commissioning plans & procedures including ITP’s (Inspection Test Plans), ITC’s (Inspection Test Checklists), commissioning timelines, tracking progress, identifying issues and final sign off.

Air Tightness Testing

The benefits of Air Tightness Testing is well documented overseas and is an emerging industry in Australia.

Vining Air has been a NEBB Commissioning Company for many years and have recently gained ATTMA (UK standard) and NEBB (Building Enclosure Testing) certification for air tightness testing.

Under Floor Air Distribution (UFAD)

UFAD displacement ventilation consists (typically) of a raised access floor being used as a pressurised plenum for air distribution.

Plenum integrity and sealing is critical in the design, construction, and delivery of an under floor air delivery (UFAD) system. The entire team from design, construction, fitout and testing need to do their part to ensure the under floor plenum is air tight. Vining Air can assist in making sure all parties are working together to achieve the desired result.

Duct Leakage Testing

Duct leakage Testing was a regular requirement years back but fell out of favour with the advent of automated duct construction. Leakage testing is now back on the agenda with ever increasing energy costs and the desire for improved energy efficiencies.

Australian Standard AS 4254.2 2012 lists detailed air leakage test requirements. With specialist Duct Leakage Test Fans, Vining Air has the experience to assist clients in this area.

Infrared Thermal Scanning

Infrared Thermal scanning is a relatively new tool used for determining and locating air & thermal leaks during the Building Enclosure Air Tightness testing process.

Thermal scanning is a non-contact and non-destructive test process that identifies air leaks and thermal leaks with minimal disruption to occupants.

Vining Air holds AINDT Level 1 Infrared Thermographer Certification.

Vining Air Have Moved!

Some big changes have occurred at Vining Air recently, most notably moving to our new office in Mentone and the addition of a new team member, Matthew.

Our relocation to a bigger and brighter office at 69 Shearson Crescent Mentone has been an exciting development. It’s a fantastic area and we are looking forward to what the future holds here.

The move also coincides with the growth of our work force. Matthew, who is a third year apprentice, recently started with us. With his keenness and aptitude to learn, plus an easy going nature, he has been a welcome addition to the team.
